Painting with Light

I love movement. And painting with light it's a lot of fun. For this shot I set my camera for a 0.3 sec exposure with the aperture at f/3.8 and an ISO of 1000. Then I did a quick horizontal pan as I released the shutter. In this photo, I like juxtaposition of the water looking still and in focus while the buildings are in motion. There are lots of ways to paint with light. Back when it was still film only, I painted my initials in the night sky using only my camera and the moon. I'll remember to post it in a future post once I hook up my scanner and have all my slides in one place.

In the meantime, grab your camera, put it in manual mode and go out into the night and experiment painting with light.
