Two Birthdays

In addition to St. Patrick's Day, I am celebrating the birthdays of two great musicians.

3/17/41 - 1/28/16

3/17/54 - 12/8/86

I was hoping I might find a connection between Paul and Fats but no luck. So here's a different combo for Paul Kantner that only 3K have seen. Paul Kantner signing Wooden Ships (one of my fave songs) with Crosby, Stills and Nash in 1989.

I'm combo-ing Fats with Muddy Waters! He plays the red guitar on the left of the stage. At the time he would have only been 19 years old. Can you imagine playing with Muddy Waters when you're 19?

Pick up of my book, Everybody I Shot Is Dead, and silver gelatin prints of Paul Kantner (just released) and Hollywood Fats

Hollywood Fats

We lost this amazing musician when he was only 32. I can't even imagine how amazing he would be if he was still around. One of my main goals of doing my book, Everybody I Shot Is Dead, was for younger musicians to learn about and be influenced by the greats that weren't household names. Hollywood Fats was one of the greats who did not get the fame he deserved.

3/17/54 - 12/8/86

Wow...I can't believe I found another video with Hollywood Fats. He's playing with Muddy Waters, who I photographed but lost the negatives :(. I'm happy to share this - Fats is on the far left of the stage and playing the red guitar.

Pick up a copy of Everybody I Shot Is Dead to learn more about
Hollywood Fats and the other 47 musicians included in the book.
