Richie Hayward

Five years ago today, Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward lost his battle with cancer. This is a never-before-seen photograph I took of Richie at the LA Forum. It's an interesting perspective where his left arm and stick is in relation to his right hand on the cymbal, which looks like a stretch. And yet, he's super chill, grooving and watching me take his picture. I'm also loving Lowell George on the edge of the shot.

RICHIE HAYWARD
2/6/46 - 8/12/10

I picked a cool video that features Richie more predominately than most drummers usually get. And I like that they played full songs during their sound checks. Little Feat was the consummate live act. Check out their double-live album, Waiting for Columbus.

Read more about Little Feat and the other amazing musicians in Everybody I Shot Is Dead.
Today I am also releasing Limited and Open Edition silver gelatin prints of the Richie Hayward photograph.

Lowell George

Lowell shares the anniversary of his passing with Tim Buckley, which was yesterday, only four years later. I chose this photo because Richie Hayward is very visible on the right playing drums and I've yet to do a post on him. He passed in August 2010. I will get back into the archives before then so I can memorialize him too.

LOWELL GEORGE
4/13/45 - 6/29/79

Not the greatest version of Dixie Chicken but cool to see Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris singing back-up with Lowell. Also, Richie Hayward is on drums.

There are a lot more photographs of Lowell in my book, Everybody I Shot Is Dead.
